hell or high watermelon wheat beer (12oz)

may 31st

what better way to celebrate memorial day than with some grilling and a refreshing shotgun for all those have gave down in the past.

elm city lager (12oz)

may 30th

i needed to make a stop at the library before heading out of town and shotgunning on the steps seemed like a good idea. next time it will be inside somewhere...ninja style

gordon ale (12oz)

may 29th

my legs feel like jelly but we had an amazing hike in the appalachian mountains and found a discrete spot to camp along a little creek where we didn't see another human the entire time. decided not to carry to much stuff so i did my shotgun at an overlook right before we started the hike so i could leave the empty can and camera behind. we saw turtles, millipedes, humingbirds, deer, butterflies and a momma black bear with two cubs! it was very fitting that i decided to shotgun the gordon ale as it says "pack it in, pack it out" on the side which corresponds wonderfully with shenandoah national parks "leave no trace" policy. i never got to enjoy a beer made by gordon knight but i can pretend with this perfect ale from oskar blues

bass pale ale (16.9oz)

may 28th

the rain was looming overhead all day and the thunder was cracking so close to us we started a fire at our campsite in the shenandoah valley national park. we kept it pretty simple today and just played some backgammon and watched a rowdy camp neighbor of ours get taken away by the park rangers. a delicious bass pale ale and some shots of whiskey were the perfect way to end the night...or evening i guess because it was sooooo early. quiet time was 10pm! luckily there is no quiet time for back country camping which is gonna be awesome.

old milwaukee (16oz)

may 27th

i really shouldn't have worried about puking because 16oz's goes down easy, but, i was extremely full and had just finished stuffing my face so i figured it couldn't hurt to be prepared. if anyone cares for any of the recipes from the evening just let me know...i was very psyched on the beets because they were fresh from the farmers market and we used the whole thing. roasted the beets, sauteed the greens and tossed it all together!

joose: red (23.5oz)

may 26th

i was in ny for the night and feeling pretty big so i climbed up on the statue of liberty and shotgunned a giant joose while trying not to fall down from next to my favorite robed lady. there was a weird chirp sound that echoed up from the ground at just about every sound i made. me and leo are gonna go back there someday and try to capture this sound for science.

crazy stallion (24oz)

may 25th

i remember drinking this all the time in brooklyn when it was still offensive and named "crazy horse" and i remember the day me and gaylen went to the bodega and were blown away that it had changed overnight. it's probably been at least 4 years since that day and i haven't really dabbled in crazy stallions since then but after this shotgun i think i might have to search out some crazy cheap 40's once again. this shotgun was done in the alley behind the triple just before crooked teeth played

simpler times lager (12oz)

may 24th

i'd have to say my life officially rules. it can't get much more chill than shotgunning beer in your underwear in bed while listening to cap'n jazz and playing backgammon with a gorgeous woman while two beautiful cats cutely slumber nearby.
this lager had a slight oat smell going on and a light malt finish. not bad for the price.

i guess i could go for the naked backgammon game next time.

odle english hg 800 (24oz)

may 23rd

as the clock neared midnight i realized i had been drinking all day but had not done my shotgun...luckily i had a 24oz of high gravity olde e in my bag and ryan had the brilliant idea to use a headlamp to light things up. i think i may have moved around and spun too much for the camera to pick it all up in the dark but i assure it looked silly.

pine belt pale ale (16oz)

may 22nd

tried to make this video a little longer for all the people out there that are ok with spending a lot of time watching other people drink alone. some of my youtube favorites include but are not limited to:
Riz2336
MisterBrezz
and
Bruz40
i think some of this is hilarious, i just can't bring myself to spend 20 minutes eating and drinking alone and talking to a camera the whole time...or can i?

labatt blue (24oz)

may 21st

when i was in brooklyn a couple months ago i grabbed a few different 24oz cans of labatt because they had them at a place that would sell them to me on food stamps. so this is the first of 3 to make it into history. i've never been to canada but i love most of the people i meet from there, i think it was just one annoying holier-than-thou lady named christeen that soured my view of canadians for awhile. the tiki torches were perfect for the survivor themed shotgun and the summer's new drink (called "the pp") kept me awake and alert to party well into the morning. if you wanna know what's in "the pp" shoot me an e-mail and i'll give you the recipe.

pilsner uquell (16.9oz)

may 20th

such a beautiful can...raised lettering and gold all over, the epitome of classy can work. shot me in the face when i opened it but it was a refreshing spritz. an instant burst of energy came upon me when the last mellow hoppy drop raced down my throat.

lion stout (12oz)

may 19th

a wonderful shotgun idea with a tasty stout gone horribly wrong. i didn't preview the background footage because it was called "Male Leopard Vs Lions" and thought it would be fitting for the beverage and my outfit. unfortunately there is only a quick shot of a lion during the part i shotgunned on. and of course a graphic popped up with that whole "eye of the leopard" thing and it made me feel really stupid, i should have been shotgunning a leopard pale ale or something. as if that wasn't enough, the tab snapped off the top before the can was completely open. all in all i still had fun so whatever. get yourself some lion stout because it is nice and strong at 8% and has a dark smokey taste to die for.

i was hoping for more fighting and destruction...i'm so impatient i could have made this way more epic than it was.

jack daniel's downhome punch (16oz)

may 18th

i love to party with people that love to party.
congratulations!
congratulations!
happy new year!
happy birthday!
baby shower!
this one goes out to vanessa and ross who are biking from san diego to new york and shotgunned with us while they were here in richmond
this downhome punch wasn't something i would drink on the regular but it was a decent shotgun experience. i'd prefer it more if it was more like alcoholic hawaiian punch.

tilt: orange (16oz)

may 17th

this stuff has been disappearing from all the stores around here and i'm convinced that the new red tilt is replacing it. i am actually totally ok with this though because tilt sucks and the only reason it should keep on keepin' on is if it can consistently double in alcohol content. thanks to david, carlton and damien for groupgunning this 6.6% orange soda on the porch with me!

game day ice (24oz)

may 16th

my prediction is that somehow 7-11 is gonna beat out wal-mart by 2050. game day ice is contract brewed and it makes perfect sense for them seeing as they probably sell more beer than any other item in the store...ok maybe taquitos sell about the same amount but beer keeps you coming back and you definitely feel better the next day with beer as opposed to taquitos.

Saturday, May 15, 2010

peter's brand (16oz)

may 15th

for the short amount of time i spent drinking this pilsner i had the distinct taste of gold pouring across my tongue and down my throat. i'll have to remember where i got this and go get myself some more when i feel like treating myself like a king.

Friday, May 14, 2010

icehouse (12oz)

may 14th

shotgunning an icehouse with my main man dj q-kumbre! not much to say about icehouse. i did enjoy it on tap in milwaukee once. it was after a tour of the miller brewery where we were given 3 pints of tap beer, somehow i think i was the only person there that chose icehouse...what's the deal? this stuff is refreshing and good for the body.

Thursday, May 13, 2010

sir perry (16.9oz)

may 13th

a scrumptious pear cider straight outta england. it had a sugary green apple aroma and an interesting sourness to the finish. back before the new year me and my roommates started brewing some pear wine which we will in turn make into pear champagne. i kinda hope it somehow resembles this fine beverage.

find out more about sir perry here

schlitz malt liquor (12oz)

may 12th

i was hoping for a little more water in the creek but i had fun and made do with what was there! it ended up being more like the lazy river. i think this summer will have plenty more tubeguns to come (yes that's right i made a new word "tubeguns", deal with it)

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

private stock (16oz)

may 11th

ok so i've been done with school for a long time now but it's still inspiring to see the excitement of others when they have that release and are free for the summer. what better way to bring in the summer than with a shotgun on the porch swing?!

Monday, May 10, 2010

dark horse ice (24oz)

may 10th

i thought this stuff was great, a wonderful skunky flavor and malty-goodness all the way to the bottom. did cause alot of foam to build up but i handle it the best i knew how...a big hearty burp. i found this in atlanta a couple months back...let me know if it comes in different sizes and where to find it.

Sunday, May 9, 2010

heinnieweisse weissebier (12oz)

may 9th

happy mother's day! woke up and shotgunned a yummy white beer that is canned by butternuts. it went great with the early morning sun and the water flowing over the dam. thanks to jessica for shotgunning with me on this fine sunday!

Saturday, May 8, 2010

rolling rock (12oz)

may 8th

i've had rolling rock in bottles and at parties from a keg but this is the first can i think i've ever had so i'm glad it was saved for us to shotgun. thanks to john for guestgunning and burping with me! he is the man that introduced me to katamari so another thanks goes out to him for that.

Friday, May 7, 2010

natural ice (12oz)

may 7th

the reason i went to ny was to play an awesome show at a sweet house in the bronx that i had never been to. it went great and i got to shotgun a beer with some of the residents of said house. thanks to all of the people that crammed into the bathroom that evening and a special thanks to paul shaffer!

Thursday, May 6, 2010

dorada (12oz)

may 6th

can't find much out about this stuff...it's cheap and not too bad tasting. it's brewed by the black mountain brewing co. but all i can find on them sends me to chili beer which sounds delicious but only comes in bottles. thanks to kever for guestgunning on the roof of his house! foam burps always make me happy.

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

corona (24oz)

may 5th

shotgunning a corona on a dark street in brooklyn seemed like the perfect way to celebrate cinco de mayo! when i say dark i mean it...sorry for the quality of this video i should have picked a brighter spot but the five-0 was rolling deep because they hate partying. thanks to nathan and stephen for guestgunning. this one goes out to denise chavez!

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

heineken light (16oz)

may 4th

heineken did not pay me for this but they should. you can write them here. just select "sponsoring" as the subject and tell them to send me beer to shotgun...we can all have a big party!

Monday, May 3, 2010

obscura brown ale (12oz)

may 3rd

hints of maple syrup and roasted nuts make their way through in this brown ale brought to us by cucapa, so much so that the smell of the little caesers dumpster didn't even interrupt the flavor.

Sunday, May 2, 2010

wittekerke (12oz)

may 2nd

i definitely prefer wheat beers chilled, this was warm and shaken up in my bag. finally i've come across another can that is thicker than the rest, it was actually difficult to open and now that it's empty i can feel that it's a little heavier than most 12oz cans. i do like it better than the wittekerke rose even though the rose is easy to walk around with in public because it doesn't really resemble many american alcohol cans. if anyone can get me some bavik pils that would rule!

sparks: lemon stinger (16oz)

may 1st

soon after this there was wild fist pumpin' till early in the morning and then i punched a beer open and it basically exploded on me. oh and in regards to lemon stinger sparks...it's not the best but it makes a good summer bbq drink.
